Pickle Ball
After moving to Thornbury from Toronto in late 2016 my husband John and I were introduced to Pickle Ball at the Thornbury club. We have since become passionate about the game and I aspire to actually becoming good at it . I am in Group 1 and usually play 3 times a week. Joining the club is also a great way to meet and befriend many wonderful people and I thoroughly enjoy the social aspect of the club as much as playing. I was a volunteer helper for the past two annual tournaments and have assisted with line replacement a couple of times.
Personal and Professional
We have two children and a daughter-in-law who continue to live and work in Toronto. While the children were growing up we were actively involved in supporting the various sports and other (dance, choir) organizations related to their activities.
I graduated from the University of Guelph with an applied science degree in nutrition and then promptly joined a financial institution where I worked for the next 40 years. I am a Human Resources professional and over the course of my career held roles in most HR disciplines. For over 20 years I worked for RBC supporting international business divisions which involved considerable travel and a focus on employee relations, governance and mergers, acquisitions and divestitures support.
Using HR lingo, I have strong organizational and communication skills. I can also find my way around most MS Office software including Excel, Word and PowerPoint in addition to email and of course Google.
I enjoy travel, curling, bicycling, swimming, reading and music.
CLEMENTS, Paul - We have been residents of Thornbury and TPC members since early 2015. Amongst all the other great things this area provides pickleball is right up there. We have met many great people, many who have become friends away from the courts. We have a diverse group within TPC and I would like to continue meeting their needs. I have been a Director for 3 years now, serving as President for the past two years.
GRUMMETT, Jean - Pickleball is my passion. I love the action, challenge and great fun in playing the game with so many fun-loving 'pickleballers'. I started helping with our club through the winter of 2015 and am currently on the TPC board of Directors, serving as secretary, operating the Interim Program and keeping the TPC website up-to-date. I also enjoy working with technology and like to use it to eliminate some of the tedious tasks required in running a club. I promise that my every action will continue to be a benefit to our club so that it can keep growing and moving ahead with additional courts to accommodate more players.
