TPC Annual General Meeting of 2018

Absent: Cor Boogerman (illness)
TPC president, Paul Clements, welcomed approximately thirty-five members to the annual meeting of the Thornbury Pickleball Club. He thanked all the members for their contributions (the committee members, line installers, our photographer, ambassadors and tournament helpers) in making the TPC the club that it is today.
After reading the minutes of the last meeting, Jean Grummett, moved that the minutes be approved as read and posted, seconded by Andy Gellatly and Peter Robinson.
Financial Report
Paul Clements briefly discussed the financial report that was sent out to the members prior to the meeting, highlighting the fact that a percentage off the actual cost of the rent and few expenses make it possible for the membership fees to be kept at $125. He also mentioned that TPC receives a 30% discount on the hall rental and should that be taken away the current bank account reserve would be needed as the timing of our contract with the town vs setting our annual fee is not in sync. Interim Memberships brought in approximately $2500 and with these funds the club was able to help pay for the cost of the clinics being offered by Cam Taylor. Since there were no further questions re the financial report, Paul moved that the report be approved as printed, seconded by Andy Gellatly.
Clinics 101
Paul explained more about the clinics being offered to the members to provide opportunities to improve their skills which is a part of our mandate.
Good Will
It was also decided this year that those members suffering from ill health or accidents would be sent a potted plant (minimum $25). The decision re donations when a death of a member occurs will be left to each individual member.
Update on Outdoor Courts -
Al Tulloch has been working on behalf of our club to get some outdoor pickleball courts in our town. They will be proposed in the parks budget for the Bayview location east of the town hall. We, the TPC, can be of most help by emphasizing the need for more courts and send emails to Ryan Gibbons, acting Director of community services for the town, rgibbons@thebluemountains.ca .
Interim Memberships
A couple of questions re Interim Memberships were answered. Interim Memberships are posted on the website for the persons on the waitlist, as well as former members of the TPC. No one person will pay more than $125 during a year for the Interim Memberships that they select. Also, when full time memberships become available, Interim Members get priority to fill those spots. Paul, along with the members present, extended a warm welcome to our newly acclaimed director, Andy Gellatly. He joins Rayne Bryla, Cor Boorgerman, Jean Grummett and Paul Clements who were also acclaimed. No vote for directors was required.
Peter Robinson asked if we could make plans to invite the members from the Lighthouse Tournament back for a tournament at our locale. That will be one of the items on the agenda for the directors at the first meeting.
Paul moved the meeting be adjourned.
